It's only in retrospect, they say,
that you know what not to do.
But that's just not true.

I knew it right there.
Knew I shouldn't be bothered.
Walk away from what you offered.

I saw in your pleading eyes
that I am just not strong
enough, that you were wrong.

But you picked me up,
held me high up to have a look
and then threw me away.

You're a liar and a thief.
Well, I don't know whether you're a liar,
but you sure are a thief.

You left me in bits and pieces,
left me to deal with unanswered
questions and open paths.

And you don't even cook.
